Host families come from all walks of life. You can be married with or without children, a single parent family, a young couple with no children or an older couple whos children are grown. You can live in a house or apartment, in the city or the countryside. All you really need is "Lots of Love and the right attitude".
As a C.A.S.E. Host Family you are expected to provide room, board and a loving and supportive home for a teenager from another country. Students attend High School for one semester or an academic school year. They are fully insured and provide for their own spending money. Students may share a room with another teenager--as long as they have their own bed. Host families are also eligible to claim $50.00 for each month they host as a charitable contribution on their federal income tax return.
Hosting an International Exchange Student can be a very rewarding experience. By opening your home, you not only expose you and your family to another way of life and language, but also grow to know and love a very special person. You and your family can build a relationship that will last forever. If you and your family have an interest in people, other cultures and languages, then you are exactly the type of family that C.A.S.E is looking for.
What is a Host Family and what is expected of them?
All students are carefully selected and screened. They must have a favorable recommendation from a teacher in their present school. Only those students who have achieved academic interest and achievement, exemplary character, curiosity, adaptability and a good command of the English language are accepted. Each student is personally interviewed by a qualified representative of CASE and the interviewers written recommendation is essential for the student to be accepted. Each students application form contains not only their personal family and medical history but also, academic transcripts, teacher recommendations, autobiographical essay written by the student and photos of the student and their natural family. The essay contains information such as the students lifestyle, academic goals, interests, favorite sports and hobbies and their personal goals while studying in the United States.
How CASE students are chosen.
